About Us

Office Water Supplies

OWS a family run business, established back in 1989 as a supplier of chilled drinking water systems to the domestic and commercial market place. Over the years as working relationships have expanded, the demand for introducing more products such as hot water systems, coffee machines and the latest sparkling & still drink water dispensers has seen our product range increase year after year.

As a family run business it is important that we represent ourselves well not just with our customers but suppliers also. We have distribution for the American Coffee Machine manufacturer Keurig, the fine stylish water coolers from Borg & Overstrom, the touch screen innovation Bean-To-Cup Coffee Machine manufacturer Westomatic as well as the latest hot water system technology from Instanta.

Our objective is to discover, assess, recommend and serve with a purpose to suit the environment.

Locally Sourced Bottled Water

The Norfolk Brecklands are known for their light, sandy soil, deposited by retreating glaciers some 400,000 years ago. But 65 million years earlier, the whole region was covered by a tropical sea, in which deep layers of chalk were laid down – deposits which extend from north-west Norfolk to the Chiltern Hills. This geology provides the bottling plant with its greatest asset: millions of litres of fresh, sweet, naturally filtered water, held in this Cretaceous chalk layer.

The water source is fully lined to protect against any contamination from surface water, so the water extracted is naturally pure and healthy. Nevertheless the water is submitted to further micro-filtration before bottling. Even before this process, the water is very low in nitrates: the permitted level is 50mg/litre, and ours contains just 6.5. Similarly, while the permitted sodium level is 200mg/litre, Harling Premium English Water contains just 15, before filtration, so it is ideal for anyone on a low-sodium diet.

One more thing. Because Harling Premium English Water is extracted from chalk layers, it contains a little calcium – which is not only good for your health, but also gives the water a flavour which is almost universally preferred in blind tastings.

Of course, there would be little point in achieving these outstanding purity levels in our water if we did not match them with corresponding levels of hygiene in the bottling process. As bottler members of BWCA, both areas are regularly and rigorously checked by independent third party auditors – and time after time, our results are among the best in the country.

There are regular tests carried out, here is a breakdown of testing and timescales.

  • 3 hourly in house tests for pH, conductivity, wash detergent temperature and strength, chemical carry over, a multi stage start up, 3 hourly and shut down check sheet
  • Daily in house testing for coliform, e-coli and pseudomonas
  • 2 weekly bacterial testing at an outside laboratory including the above as well as TVC counts and enterococci
  • 4 weekly tests at an outside laboratory of washed bottles and caps to confirm washer operation
  • 12 weekly bromate tests
  • Mid year tests for the EHO
  • Annual tests of product and source
